Welcome! I’m a freelance writer, editor and novelist.

A childhood dream of becoming a novelist came true in 2016 when Ocean of Storms, a sci-fi thriller I wrote with my buddy Jeremy K. Brown, was published. It even briefly made the Amazon bestseller list late that year. In 2017, my next novel, The Beachhead, was named an Amazon Book of the Month selection. My first short story collection, Ten Worlds Away, received an outstanding review from Publishers Weekly in 2022.

As a freelance writer, I’ve written biographical profiles, book and movie reviews, essays, articles about history and current events, promotional materials and science-related pieces for a lay audience.

My nonfiction has appeared in America, Boing Boing, Current Biography, Dappled Things, The Horn Book, the New York Daily News and Writer’s Digest, among other publications.

In addition, I’ve edited social studies books for students, primarily histories and biographies, as well as books on the U.S. presidency, epidemics and space exploration.

My interests include reading widely (and advocating for reading widely!), hiking, watching good movies and TV shows (especially sci-fi), fixing stuff and spending quality time with family and friends.

My least favorite job was probably working as a janitor’s assistant at my old grade school. My hands-down favorite was being a stay-at-home dad while freelancing nights and weekends.

Please feel free to touch base with me through my Contact page. You can also reach me through Goodreads or Substack. Thanks!
